ASSOR History

ASSOCIATION organist and organ masters was created in November 1987 at the initiative of the People’s Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, Professor Oleg G. Yanchenkov (1939-2002). At the organizational congress was attended by about 130 organists, organ masters, artists, composers, directors organ halls USSR. Been the President of the Association from its inception until 2002, was Oleg Yanchenko.

The objectives of the Association is the full support of the organ culture: performance, organ building, pedagogy, composition activity and scientific research. At the initiative of the Association and with the participation held many organ festivals, workshops, conferences, competitions organists (First All-Russian Organ Competition held in March 1988 in Moscow).

Among the latest projects — the International Music Festival for the 70th anniversary of O.Yanchenko, inaugurated in October 2009 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and took place in 17 cities of Russia.
